Aaraku valley - Vizag
Araku Valley is a picturesque destination located in the Eastern Ghats of India. Our journey started from Vizag Beach, where we rented bikes to travel to Araku Valley. The ride to Araku Valley is around 120 km, and it takes around 4 hours to reach there. However, the journey is so scenic that time seems to fly by. We started early in the morning, and as we rode through the winding roads, we saw hills covered with dense forests, waterfalls, and small villages.
Our first stop was at the Borra Caves, which is located around 30 km from Araku Valley. The Borra Caves are a network of limestone caves that are known for their stunning stalactite and stalagmite formations. We spent around 2 hours exploring the caves, and it was a surreal experience. After the Borra Caves, we rode to the Araku Tribal Museum, which is a museum dedicated to the tribal communities that live in the region. The museum has a collection of artefacts, handicrafts, and photographs that showcase the life and culture of the tribal communities. We spent around an hour at the museum, learning about the traditions and customs of the tribal communities.
Our next stop was at the Katiki Waterfalls, which is located around 10 km from Borra Caves. The Katiki Waterfalls is a beautiful waterfall that is surrounded by lush green forests. We spent some time enjoying the scenic beauty of the waterfall and clicking pictures. After the Katiki Waterfalls, we rode to the Araku Coffee Museum, which is a museum dedicated to the history and culture of coffee in the region. The museum has a collection of coffee beans, brewing equipment, and photographs that showcase the process of coffee production. We also got to taste some of the coffee produced in the region, which was a unique experience.
Our final stop was at the Araku Valley, which is a small hill station located at an altitude of 1300 meters above sea level. The Araku Valley is known for its stunning landscapes, waterfalls, and coffee plantations. We spent some time exploring the valley, enjoying the scenic beauty, and trying some of the local cuisine.
